About us

An independent resource for people who buy things for a business

We do not sell products, hold stock, or take a commission from anyone whose equipment we describe. What we publish is the process we would use ourselves.

An open-plan office with rows of desks and people working
Written for the buyer who does the sourcing on top of their real job.

What this site is

Product Solutions Center is published by Sentinel Holdings I LLC as a practical reference for business buyers. Most sourcing decisions in small and mid-size companies are made by someone whose actual job is something else — an operations manager, an office manager, a founder, a site supervisor — and who has a week to make a decision that will live with the business for five years.

Two things make that hard. The available information is written by people selling something, and the buyer has no framework for judging it. We work on the second problem: a repeatable sequence for defining a requirement, comparing options and testing them before committing.

What we cover

The category directory lists the areas we write about, grouped into facilities, technology, logistics, front of house and safety. For each, we set out the specification points that most often separate a good purchase from an expensive one — the questions worth asking a supplier rather than a list of products to buy.

The four sourcing guides cover the sequence itself: writing a requirement, comparing suppliers, costing an option over its whole life, and running a pilot. Read in order they form a method; read individually they each stand alone.

How we stay independent

  • We sell nothing. No products, no stock, no fulfilment, no referral fees, no affiliate links, no sponsored categories.
  • We take no vendor money. Manufacturers and distributors cannot pay for inclusion, placement, favourable wording or a link.
  • We do not name a winner. The right product depends on your environment, volume and constraints. Anyone recommending a specific model without knowing those is guessing or selling.
  • We do not pass on your details. If you contact us, your enquiry is not sold, shared or forwarded to suppliers as a lead.

On numbers and claims

We do not publish invented research or attach precise-sounding percentages to claims we cannot source, and there are no testimonials from customers who do not exist. Where a guide includes a calculation, it runs on figures you enter so you can check it against your own situation rather than take a number on trust.

How the material is put together

Each guide starts from a question a buyer actually got stuck on, and is written to end in something usable the same day — a spec outline, a scoring table, a list of questions to put to a supplier. Anything that would not change a decision gets cut.

Where the honest answer is “it depends on your jurisdiction, your contract or your industry,” we say that instead of inventing a rule. And where a rule of thumb has real exceptions, the exceptions are in the text rather than in a footnote nobody reads.

What we are not

We are not a reseller, a distributor, a purchasing agent, a broker or a consultancy. Nothing published here is legal, financial, engineering or safety advice for your particular situation, and reading it creates no professional relationship. For anything regulated, load-bearing or life-safety related, engage a qualified professional and treat this site as background reading.

Corrections and requests

If something here is wrong, tell us — name the page and the passage and we will check it. If we do not cover a category you are sourcing, that is also worth sending; several of the current entries began as a reader's question.
