What we collect
- What you send us. Using the contact form gives us your name, email address, an optional company name, the topic you selected and your message.
- Server logs. Standard web server records: IP address, timestamp, the page requested and the browser user-agent string.
- Filter preferences. The category filters and search box on the homepage run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type there is sent to us or stored anywhere.
We do not operate advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not build marketing profiles from visits to this site.
Why we use it
Contact-form information is used to read and answer your message, to act on corrections, and to keep a record of correspondence about published material. Server logs are used to keep the site available, diagnose faults and identify abuse. Our lawful basis for both is our legitimate interest in operating a published information site and responding to people who write to us.
We do not sell your enquiry
This matters enough to state separately. Sending us a sourcing question does not put you on a list. Your enquiry is not forwarded to manufacturers, distributors or resellers, is not sold as a sales lead, and does not result in supplier contact.
Cookies
We set no advertising or analytics cookies. If a strictly necessary session cookie is ever required for a particular feature, it will be used only for that feature and never to track you across other sites.
How long we keep it
Contact-form messages are kept for up to twenty-four months so we can maintain a record of correspondence and corrections, then deleted. Server logs are rotated and deleted on a much shorter cycle, typically within ninety days.
Who else sees it
Your information is handled by the people who operate this site and stored on infrastructure provided by our hosting supplier, who processes it only on our instructions. We disclose personal information to third parties only where legally required, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
Third-party assets
Typefaces load from Google Fonts and photographs are served by Unsplash. Requesting those files exposes your IP address and browser information to those providers, as loading any third-party asset does. We do not send them anything you submit through this site.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to [email protected] describing your request. We may ask for enough detail to be sure we are answering the right person, and we will respond within the period applicable law requires.
Security
We keep the software behind this site patched, limit access to submitted messages, and serve pages over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, which is why we ask you not to send confidential contracts or pricing through the contact form.
Children
This is a business resource and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change means the current version applies.
